This update can be used for Plaxis 3D Tunnel Version 2 only.
All changes made in previous Update Packs have been incorporated in Plaxis 3D Tunnel Version 2.4
This Update is a self-extracting and installing package. After downloading, please run it and follow instructions.New hardware key
3D Tunnel version 2.4 uses a new hardware key: the WIBU/CodeMeter key. This new key requires new drivers. The drivers will be installed together with the update or they can also be found on the Plaxis website. Users with an existing license and the old hardlock, who want to use the new update, can contact our sales department (sales@plaxis.com) in order to obtain the new key.
New feature
PLAXIS 3D Tunnel version 2.4 contains new features compared to PLAXIS 3D Tunnel Version 2 Update Pack 2:
- The phi/c-reduction calculation is enabled for the jointed rock model.
Fixed bugs
In PLAXIS 3DT version 2.4, the following major improvements have been made:
PLAXIS General
- 3DT version 2.3 encountered severe problems with the new hardware key; These bugs have been fixed for 3DT 2.4.
- The compatibility problems with 3DT 1.2 and with Plaxis 2D version 8.5 or later have been fixed.
- The shared registry settings with other Plaxis programs are removed.
- Access to the global database with limited rights has been fixed.
- It is now possible to reopen a project which is saved without a geometry defined.
- Some on screen windows and (edit)/boxes were too small due to the use of Large Fonts, this has been fixed now.
PLAXIS Input (Pre processing)
- Some variables in the windows of the material data input were not displayed correctly, this has been fixed.
- Invalid values of material variables are no longer accepted.
- The display of ‘distributed load B’ is now equal to the display of ‘distributed load A’.
- The K0-procedure window contained some problems regarding the input values of K0x and K0z, they have been removed.
- Regeneration of the 3D-mesh will now reset the staged construction settings.
- Newly inserted planes in the 3D mesh-generation window will now start with valid z-values.
- When switching to geometry input from initial conditions and back the program will not ask for regeneration of mesh.
- The drawing of the general phreatic level is restricted to one.
PLAXIS Calculations
- The efficiency and memory usage of the ground water flow calculation has been improved.
- The calculation accuracy for an elasto-plastic plate when using ‘total multipliers’ has been relaxed to allow for faster convergence.
- The irrelevant parameters displayed in the window of groundwater flow-calculation have been removed.
PLAXIS Post processing (Output and curves)
- Several improvements have been made in the display of groundwater flow-calculation results.
- The stresses in non-porous material are not shown in the plot; they are only available in the tables.
- Sometimes output showed irregular shaded plots, this has been fixed.
- The location and value of the equivalent force in plane view is now displayed correctly.
- The cross section representation in the output has been improved.
- Water loads are now plotted over the whole width.
- The total stress table is now enabled.
Known issues
- Due to a difference in the handling of files since Plaxis 3D Tunnel Version 2.4, files made with this version, or newer, cannot be read in Plaxis 3D Tunnel 2 (including Update Pack 1 and 2) or older.
- User defined water conditions in the front and rear plane will be overwritten by the general option ‘closed plane (groundwater flow/consolidation)’.
- In output it is not possible to view the state variables of the Hardening Soil model and the Soft Soil (Creep) model.
