Plaxis Bulletin Autumn 2012

OCT 2012
  • Title: Plaxis Bulletin Autumn 2012
  • Issue: 32
  • Published on: 1 October, 2012

In this 32nd issue of the Plaxis Bulletin we take a closer look at the new PLAXIS 2D 2012 program and specifically the new feature for embedded piles. In addition to this there are some interesting contributions from users. The first user’s article involves a simulation of three types of geotechnical works (embankment construction, deep excavation and tunneling) on/in Bangkok subsoil conditions using three constitutive models with enhancing levels of complexity. The second user’s article addresses how Plaxis can efficiently be applied as a tool in seismic soil-structure interaction problems. Particularly looking at structures with deep foundations in soft soil conditions, the soil-structure interaction is a key factor that has to be considered in design. The third user’s article covers the development of a new gas process and production platform, on four non-braced legs, each with a suction caisson foundation, in the Dutch sector of the North Sea. Furthermore there is again a joint presentation about a project where Plaxis has provided expert services to a client. Plaxis was contracted for a 3D simulation of a proposed two-storey detached dwelling house founded on a concrete raft.
