- Title: UDSM - Small-strain + MC model
Over the past two decades it has been discovered that the stress-strain response of soils at small strain is non-linear. Typically the majority of soil mass influenced by construction projects is governed by small strain behaviour; therefore, accounting for its effects during analysis offers potential improvements in accuracy. The small strain soil model proposed by Jardine et al. (1986) is implemented into the finite element program PLAXIS. The effect of plastic yielding is accounted for by coupling the small strain behaviour with the non-associated Mohr-Coulomb model.
