UDSM - NGI Anisotropic shear strength model

NGI-ANI2 is an elasto-plastic material model that account for the anisotropic (stress-dependent) and non-linear behaviour of clay subjected to undrained loading. The model is formulated using total stresses and a modified Tresca yield criteria. The seven (7) input parameters to the model are the small strain shear modulus G0 and undrained shear strengths (su) and corresponding shear strains at failure (gamma_f) for three different modes of loading, compression (C), extension (E) and direct simple shear (DSS). The model is applied both for capacity analyses (e.g. bearing capacity) and for deformation analyses (e.g. supported excavations). The model is limited to plane strain applications.
