Plaxis 2D - Staged construction regeneration

Plaxis 2D version 9.0 introduced the staged construction regeneration. In Plaxis 2D 9.01 it is possible to get a “Phase Index out of Bounds”-error. This problem will normally not occur. However, if you are using a non linear phase tree (a tree with two or more branches) and you have deleted a lot of phases, you will get this error when regenerating the mesh. The regeneration will stop at this point and the user has to redefine his phases manually.

It is also known that the regeneration of closed flow and closed consolidation boundaries is not consistent. When you activate and deactivate the boundaries for different phases, the regeneration will keep the activated boundaries. For Plaxis 2D Version 9.0 and Version 9.01, users are advised to check the consolidation boundaries prior to the calculation of these consolidation phases.

Plaxis is currently investigating these issues and we will plan an update soon. Please check the website regularly.

Pack project

The "Pack Project" option as it was implemented in Plaxis 2D Version 8 unfortunately had some issues where sometimes not all files were packed or corrupted during the pack process. After investigation of the problem it was decided that the best solution would be to completely make the option from scratch instead of trying to fix the issues, as fixing would most likely take more time than rewriting. In order to prevent that users can still pack projects that may not be able to unpack, the option has been disabled in Plaxis 2D Versuion 9. However, previously packed project can still be unpacked with Plaxis 2D Version 9 in the Input program.
In the next version of Plaxis a new "Pack project" will be available. If development of the option goes well we will even release it earlier than that as a stand-alone update of the software.
