Plaxis bv is a growing high-tech company in computational geomechanics, focused on developing, marketing and supporting the Plaxis finite element applications for soil and rock analyses. Our applications are used all over the world by thousands of engineers faced with challenging construction projects (for example foundations of high rise buildings, tunnels, and dikes). Being market leader in Europe, we intend to become the world leader in the modelling of soil and rock problems. Applications and working environment

Plaxis applications are used to create and manipulate models of soil and structures (for example foundations of high rise office towers, tunnels, dikes). They offer diverse functionalities, such as: highly interactive CAD-like graphical user input (both 2D and 3D), command-driven model manipulations, geometric calculations, intuitive visualization of calculation results and interfacing with finite element kernels developed by the scientific team in Fortran. Each application is developed by a project team consisting of developers, quality engineers and scientists, which makes for a stimulating and informal working environment.

Function description

The Senior SDE has an important role in the development of the Plaxis applications, being able to take good decisions in the design of their architecture and visual interface, deliver high-quality code in a timely manner and cooperate with other developers on resolving issues. The innovative nature of our products requires an agile and pragmatic mindset, in addition to attention for high quality and usability.

• BSc or MSc degree in engineering or computer science, or proven equivalent experience
• Solid knowledge of OOP in theory and practice (using Delphi, C++, C#, Java, Python or another OO language)
• Experience with medium to large software projects
• Experience with highly interactive or graphical software
• Good taste in code
• Affinity with or interest for physics, civil/mechanical engineering or similar fields is a plus
• Ability to work in a team, while efficiently managing own tasks
