E-PLAXIS, the digital Plaxis Library
E-PLAXIS is the digital library of Plaxis. Here you can find documents such as our bulletin, publications, projects and much more. Once you have chosen a category you are interested in you will see a menu of all paper on the right side. If you click to see a certain paper then you will find a short description and a link to a PDF, video, or interactive file at the bottom of the screen.

Benchmarking
According to Camp (1989), Benchmarking is "systematic research into the performance and the underlying processes and methods of one or more leading reference organisations in a certain field, and the comparison of one’s own performance and operating methods with these ‘‘best practices’’, with the goal of locating and improving one’s own performance." Although this definition is not directly applicable to benchmarking of geotechnical solutions, it contains major keywords that characterize its meaning:
goal ... improving ... performance
The papers describe various geotechnical benchmarks in which Plaxis has been used (among other tools) to obtain solutions for various design issues. It shows that, even when a project has been well defined, there may be a large variation in the various solutions. The causes of these variations are of different origin. It is important that Plaxis users realize this. At the same time it is a challenge to reduce such variations in real projects by improving the performance of modelling. This involves the modelling software as well as the software user and the (availability of) project details.
